1.Natural
resource management.
a)
Fisheries:-Promote
and initiate setup of Beach Management Units(B.M.U.s) as a vehicle for
community involvement on fisheries management.
-Rehabilitation
and conservation of. wetlands as fish breeding areas.
b) Forestry:-Sensitize
community on afforestation/Agroforesty as a means to improve food
security.
2.Wealth
creation.
-Promote
alternative income generating activities in the lake basin e.g
horticulture,hybrid goats/cattle rearing and fruit farming.
3.HIV/AIDS.
-Promote
behavioral change as a means of curbing HIV/AIDS transmission.
-Promote
and support foster parenting of HIV/AIDS orphans.
-Initiate
and support set up of community support groups of HIV/AIDS
orphans,foster parents and widows.
4.Capacity
building.
-Undertake
sensitization programmes on environmental management,HIV/AIDS and on
sanitation.
-Organize
training programmes on organizational management and other relevant
management skills to member organizations.
5.water
and sanitation.
-Promote
proper sanitation around the lake.
-Sensitize
the fishing community on
proper fish handling.
-Community
sensitization on protection of water bodies from pollution sources.
Lobby
and Advocacy
-This
is a cross-cutting programme area on policies and issues touching on
the five programme areas.This programme targets all stakeholders.
